Adam Scott: When a Perfect Swing Isn’t Enough

Adam Scott has perhaps the most technically perfect swing in golf. But that’s only one part of the equation.
In such a diverse and demanding game, pure mechanics alone aren’t enough to keep you in the winner’s circle.
A one-time Green Jacket winner and former world #1, Scott never quite made it back to the top 5. Currently, he’s ranked 56.
Despite his flawless appearance and textbook positions, he’s battled a two-way miss — and there are stretches where he can’t find the draw, leaving him stuck fading everything. Distance control has also been an ongoing challenge.
His putting has been an even greater obstacle. The broomstick putter gave him a lifeline and helped him win the Masters, but when anchoring was banned, the struggle returned. He’s been chasing consistency ever since.
For a player with one of the best swings ever, Adam Scott’s career is proof that you have to deliver under pressure and get the job done in the moment. You also have to make putts.
